Spring-like Mornings

I caught these three Flycatchers and a green lizard on the stump outside the kitchen window. I had to quietly snap this through the screen because they are very wary of any movements and scatter fast.

Below is a shot of our ripening avocados on the tree outside our bedroom window. They become mature all at once, it seems, so we have to give most of them away to friends so that they won't go bad. (Most of them have been picked already.)

Tough life in the tropics, eh?

Jerri Solan Visit

Jerri Solan, who's husband Tom was my partner in business for some years (we have Tom & Jerri and Jere--go figure!), came back to CR for a visit with her son, Javid, his wife, Gabi, and her grandson, Javid Jr. (plus their daughter, Valeria).
She's been here for a few weeks and we've just said goodbye yesterday. Julie put together a Chalupa dinner for her and the family last night. We hope that Tom can come down next time they visit!

(See another dinner for them on a differen't day below)

The center of attention is little Javid at the table, then

Valeria playing with her lil' brother on the floor at the apartment next door.

Arrival of Arleigh and Emily Hambleton and Mary Lucas

Here are a few shots of Arleigh and her daughter, Emily who are Baha'is from a small town north of Vancouver. They came down to Costa Rica for a short visit and to meet the Baha'i friends here. Mary Lucas is a great friend of ours who was raised in Nicaragua and who comes down on the Ticabus to visit us periodically. She was on her way to visit her parents in the States this trip. She has been working on a book about the life and times of Ruth Pringle who was very well known and loved in the Baha'i world (and our next door neighbor for many years). I knew she needed a break from her multiple service tasks in Nicaragua so I invited her to join Arleigh and Emily and I on a trip to La Paz Waterfalls (see previous posts on the blog). Below are shots of the Hambletons with Julie and I and of our trip to the waterfalls.

Sorry for the delay, gang! But I'm (almost) back again to make some updates.

So much has happened in the past month that it's hard to know where to start the updates.
Here's a picture of Julie with our favorite garden flower, a gardenea. The heavy rains have now started and they have been popping up on all of the bushes we have around the property. It's great to have them in the different parts of the house. The fragrance is stunning!
And our house, and the apartment next door, has been filled with so many guests. We counted 17 who have stayed with us over the past month! All were so special and so different. I've mentioned some of these before, bu I'll put in a few shots of others later. It's late, so I'll just put in a couple for now.
