Train to Montana

We decided to go with the sleeping car again this leg of the journey...hopefully the last time we have to pay extra for such an item. We're getting too picky in our old age for sleep deprivation issues. Here's the Lady in her berth. The dining car is part of the sleeper benefits, and that led to a very interesting situation. There was a group of 20-plus youth and adults who were part of an organization called something like "The Mission" (they gave us the following website to investigate: www.missionzones.org).

We were seated on two occasions by the conductor at a table with them and had some pretty animated conversations about their work, as well as explaining the Baha'i principles to them.

Here's a shot of Paul and Sharon who are part of the group. Paul was from England and Sharon grew up in Brazil. They had some amazing stories about their lifetime commitment to the mission (which, we understand, is a continuing thing with no home-base). They travel to all parts of the world, having raised their own funds, apparently, and search for ways to serve and teach the Christian way to peoples. They were on their way to a large gathering in Seattle. They go to rock concerts, golf matches or wherever large groups of people gather.
They seem to accept the followers of all Faiths, but are primarily Christian in their orientation. We were a bit mystified by what they are up to.

Here are two more members of the group, Jana from Greece and Pandita from Brazil. We were delighted with our conversation with them but a bit surprised that they were unaware of the Baha'i Teachings. (Some had seen a message or photo of the Baha'i House of Worship in India.)The next day we still saw mostly flatlands with endless fields of grain and alfalfa (which is rolled instead of bailed these days).
At last we started seeing some of the Rocky Mountains as we approached the Glacier National Park near Missoula which was our destination.

Nice pictures, it looks like the big adventure.

While looking at your last picture, I imagine the impact of the first pioneers after a long trip, when they saw for the first time the Rocky Mountains…
