Arcata Adventures

Finally we arrived at Leslie Lerner's little house which is blessed with a huge Redwood tree next to it.
Leslie and Julie met many years ago near San Francisco and she's been in Arcata for a long time studying and now practicing as a phychologist here.We've been hearing about Brian from Leslie for ages. He almost came to visit us in Costa Rica, but wasn't able at the last moment. This guy is a real gem who radiates health and spirituality! We had some lovely conversations both at Leslie's and at her close friend, Chris', place the next day.
Leslie made us a great Salmon dinner, another yummy experience for us.
This is a shot of Leslie's friends, Chris and Rob who live in nearby Eureka. They spend some years in Thailand and brought back many household treasures from there over many trips.One such is this carving which was at first reluctantly sold to Rob by the carver. This is used for special ceremonies in the Buddhist temples, I understand.
We really connected with Chis. She's another real treasure! She has a great job; she's an organizer. She will put your whole house, or your closet, or your office in order based on her conversations and understandings of your needs. Come on down, Chris, my office is just waiting for your touch!They invited a huge bunch of friends over for a potluck in our honor. It wasn't easy to converse with everyone, but we did have a great time.

This is Lauri, (I think) who is a fellow phychologist and friend of Leslie's.
And, in the middle of the couch, Kit Dols, whom we knew from San Francisco in the 60's. Her husband is to her right, and on the far end is Adam Ruhf and his girlfriend, Emily. Adam came to stay with us about 14 years ago, so it was great to reconnect with him. (Poor guy was nailed by a car while he was walking down the street, so he's carrying a cane while he recovers.)This little wood stove kept everybody nice and toadsty warm on the crisp evening. The little fan on the top is a neat invention; it's powered by the heat from the stove, and speeds up as it gets hotter, pushing the heat around the room.More guests:
We stayed with Chris and Rob, since Leslie's place is way too small. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Please, guys, come to visit us in CR, OK?
